Better Offer Guarantee: $250 to $500 More — Terms and Conditions

1. Who can use the guarantee

You must be at least 18, be the owner on the title (or have the lienholder's payoff details if the car has a loan), and be selling a car, truck, SUV or van located in our Greater Houston service area.

2. Which offers qualify

A qualifying offer is a written offer to buy your car for cash from one of these buyers:

• CarMax
• Carvana
• A participating dealer through Kelley Blue Book Instant Cash Offer
• THIScar
• A dealer through CarGurus
• Any dealer licensed by the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles

The offer must:

• Show the buyer's name, the offer amount, and the date or expiration date.
• Identify your car by VIN, or by year, make, model and mileage.
• Still be valid on the day we buy your car.
• Be an offer to buy your car outright, not a trade-in credit that depends on you buying another car.
• Be the buyer's final offer after inspecting and test-driving your car in person (for example, the final offer from a CarMax appraisal, a Carvana appointment or a dealer inspection).

3. Offers that don't qualify

• Offers from private buyers, auctions or online marketplaces where no buyer has committed to a price.
• Online or instant offers made before the buyer inspected your car in person, including an online CarMax or Carvana offer or a KBB Instant Cash Offer that has not yet been confirmed by a dealer inspection.
• Estimates, value ranges or price guides (for example, a KBB value).
• Offers that have expired, or that we cannot verify.
• Offers that look altered or incomplete.
• Offers for a different car, or for the same car with more than 250 additional miles.

4. Your car must match the description

The guarantee applies when your car is in the condition you described to the other buyer and to us. If we find something that was not disclosed, such as accident damage, a warning light, a branded title (salvage, rebuilt or flood), a missing key, or a mileage difference, the guarantee does not apply. In that case we will still make you our own offer, and you are free to accept it or not.

5. How to claim it

1. Upload a photo, screenshot or PDF of the offer with our online form, or show it to us before we sign any paperwork.
2. We verify the offer. We may ask you to forward the original email or show it in the buyer's app or website.
3. We confirm your price in writing: the qualifying offer amount plus $250 to $500.
4. We pick up your car for free, check that it matches, sign the paperwork with you, and pay you.

How much more you get

If your offer qualifies, we pay at least $250 more than the other buyer's offer. Cars in clean, well-kept condition get more, up to $500. We decide the exact amount when we see your car, based on how clean it is inside and out, its condition, mileage and history. We tell you the exact amount in writing before you agree to sell, and you are free to say no.

6. Payment

We pay the same day, at pickup, by cash, check or Zelle. If your car has a loan, we pay your lender the payoff amount and pay you the rest. If the payoff is more than our price, you pay the difference before the sale is completed.

7. Limits

• One guarantee per car (per VIN).
• The offer must be presented before we sign the purchase paperwork. We can't match an offer after the sale.
• Cannot be combined with any other promotion or bonus.

8. Paperwork

You'll need your Texas title (or your lender's payoff details), a valid photo ID, and all keys. We help you complete the title and Form 130-U. At pickup we remove the license plates, as Texas rules require when you sell to a dealer. After the sale, you can also file a Vehicle Transfer Notification (VTR-346) with TxDMV.

9. Changes to the guarantee

We may change or end this guarantee at any time by updating this page. Any change applies only to offers submitted after the change. If you submitted a qualifying offer before the change, we will honor these terms for it.

10. This is a purchase offer, not a trade-in

The guarantee is for selling your car to us outright. It is not a trade-in allowance, and you do not have to buy anything from us. It is not a promise of any value above a price guide such as Kelley Blue Book or Black Book.
